Chronic wound infections affect the quality of life for the diabetic patient and their families and are a significant health care burden that contributes to increased morbidity and mortality, increased hospitalization and limb loss. A family practice physician and certified wound care specialist speaks on practical tips to help care, treat and resolve chronic wounds in these patients.

Allyson Larkin, MD, received her bachelor of arts magna cum laud from Iowa State University. She graduated with honors from Texas A&M University College of Medicine and completed a Family Medicine Residency as part of the University of Texas Medical system in Conroe, Texas.

She is board certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine and Family Medicine and is a Certified Wound Specialist. She has been practicing with CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center since 2006.
