The Modern Management of Diabetes and Pregnancy
Description
It has been estimated that there are 6 million pregnant women annually in the United States. Gestational diabetes is diagnosed in greater than 300,000 of these pregnant women, followed by 300,000 with T2DM and 7,000 with T1DM.
Therefore, it is important for the clinician to correctly diagnosis and classify the type of diabetes in pregnant women, recognize the maternal problems involved with both gestational diabetes and pre-existing diabetes, and calibrate the treatment for the best outcomes possible for the mother and infant.
