Diabetes Education Program
Our Program
Our specially trained staff works with those diagnosed with diabetes, their families and their primary care providers to personalize each diabetes care plan. We help participants of our program learn to live healthier, happier lives by empowering them with knowledge and skills to manage their disease. The program provides continued support beyond the diabetes self-management classes through quarterly lab work and monthly family night support groups.
Our program also educates the general public about diabetes and teaches about prevention. A number of educational opportunities are provided to community members and professionals throughout the year. We also participate in outreach activities, such as health fairs and speaking engagements, to help others better understand this disease.
A diverse group of community leaders and members serve on the Diabetes Education Program's advisory board to assist us in carrying out our mission. Their input and involvement are extremely important to what we do for our community and region.
The Texas A&M Coastal Bend Health Education Center Diabetes Education Program has been Recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education and Support*.
