Tropical and Infectious Diseases Conference

Tropical and Infectious Diseases Conference May 3-4, 2019, Corpus Christi, TX

Petridish

The National Center for Health Statistics Ambulatory Medical Care Survey 2015 reported 16.8 million office visits for infectious and parasitic diseases. Some 30 years ago and more, the prevailing viewpoint in the United States and Europe was that infectious diseases were a problem of the past. This complacent view has changed dramatically with the emergence and rapid spread of the HIV/AIDS virus and antibiotic-resistant microbes. Infectious diseases are responsible for millions of deaths worldwide every year.

Join us in Corpus Christi to get current, evidence-based information on a variety of infectious disease topics. Our distinguished faculty will discuss:

  • Antibiotic resistance
  • Updated treatments for Staph aureus
  • Diagnosis and treatment of creeping eruptions
  • Infectious diseases following natural disasters
  • Latest information on community and acquired pneumonia
  • Diagnosing HIV and HCV
  • Acute flaccid myelitis
  • Vector-borne diseases in Texas
  • Trends of STD testing at the Texas State Public Health Laboratory

Target Audience

This activity is designed for family practice physicians, internal medicine physicians, hospitalists, pediatricians, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and other health care professionals.
